The Secret
Doctors are some of the most selfless chosen people in the face of the planet. They sacrifice and often times neglect their own health in order to take care of other people. They search high and low, east to the west, conduct experiment by experiment to find the secret to a happy long life. But what if I told you that our two lovebirds doctors, Irvan and Lyvia have found it. It’s inexpensive, it’s not for sale, it’s gotta be done religiously and effortlessly. It’s laughter.
Most doctors are realists, so is Irvan. He’s not the romantic type. Or is he? He wouldn't go a get you a bouquet of flowers or plan extravagant surprises. But is that the only definition of romantic? That’s A definition. There are a million different ways to be “romantic”. It’s in the way he braved the hellish traffic just to soothe her weary soul when she was facing the dreadful residency. It’s in the way he hugs her tight and whisper, “it’s all going to be okay.” It’s in the way he always finds a way to make her forget her troubles by cracking up some kind of jokes that only he can think of. If that’s not romantic, I don't know what is.
When asked about the most memorable occurrence on their wedding day, Lyvia answered, “It was definitely when Irvan read this rhymes when he was about to pick me up. I was laughing so hard that I couldn't even remember what he was saying. But I remember it was the funniest thing ever!” His jokes took her to the highest of high as if she was in paradise.
Then I asked Irvan, “What was the most memorable moment during the five plus years that you two spent dating?” He couldn't stop giggling, laughing, thinking…thinking hard. But then he answered, “I don't know. Every moment spent with her is memorable, I can’t choose just one.” Then they laughed some more. Isn’t it romantic?
It just seems like they find humor in every little thing and they don't take themselves too seriously. I’ve only spent a brief moment chatting with them online, and through I could tell immediately that they have something really special, like something that we only see on movie screen. And I couldn't help but giggle and laugh with them through the screen. Their happiness is contagious. Just like that they’ve effortlessly prescribed to me the best medicine that cures all illnesses: laughter.
