“The Land of The…Gods?”

Oh Bali the paradise they call the land of the Gods. An island that is full of beautiful nature and wide open seas; where the sounds of the waves from the beaches and the rustle of the wind from the trees makes it a dream destination for anyone who comes to Indonesia. Norman and Stephanie could easily enjoy this paradise taking pictures with the Kairos team while riding waves on their surfboards and sipping on their juice under the basking sun. What a moment to be in. Except…none of that happened…in Bali that is.

When Covid struck, their dream of enjoying paradise was suddenly put to a halt. Ironically, what was supposed to be a few months of happiness, turned to a few months of having to save people’s lives. Both Norman and Stephanie who are doctors by profession had to put their pre wedding vacation on hold. But for them, being ready for any task in the hospital is something they look forward to. After all, that’s how their love started in the first place. They first met when they were in Sukabumi in the hospital they were both working in. And the moment Norman knew Stephanie was the one; they stuck to each other…quite literally. All those long hours of late night shifts and studying for what specialization that they were going to take; they did it together. Even when one had to move to another hospital, the other would somehow manage to follow too. It was as if profession was what made their love keep on growing. But being together every moment made their job much more enjoyable to be in. 

So Norman and Stephanie did not end up going to Bali after all. But that did not stop them from getting that nuance somewhere closer to home. Believe it or not, they were able to bring the unique moments and feel of Bali to Jakarta. Fortunately, during the day of the shoot, it was perfect. The sun was out high and the wind was bristling through the air; Bali never felt closer. Even Norman and Stephanie got on a boat to sail through the open waters making it look like they were on paradise. Actually, for them, as long as they were together, every day is a paradise no matter where. 

Perhaps the island of the Gods will always be the destination for anyone who wishes to enjoy paradise. But for that moment and for that day, Norman and Stephanie were able to enjoy it right here in Jakarta. Paradise as we know it, is much closer than we think.
