Muay Tied

It was a hot and sunny when Niko took me out to take some pictures. I was begging and begging for Niko to be done with his impromptu photo shoot session. The heat was too damn strong for me! I was elated when he stopped parading me in front of the camera. But I’m glad the pictures turned out amazing. And one of those pictures with me in it is going to change his life forever! What am I you ask? Well you’ll find out as the story unfolds.

Niko is a kind young man who grew up in Singapore. Time went by so quickly. In a blink of an eye, twenty some years have passed. He graduated from university and it was time for him to go back to Indonesia to help out with his family business in the city of Cirebon.

Cirebon is a relatively small city compared to Singapore. Having been accustomed to the fast paced, activity filled living in Singapore; Niko feared that Cirebon was going to bore him. So he scouted around town of fun activities to refresh and recharge. Thank goodness he found Muay Thai, a productive activity beneficial for the body and the soul. Wink wink!

“Hi, I’m Niko!,” he introduced himself to everyone in the Muay Thai session. And Melissa’s hand was one of the hands he shook. Niko’s confidence was appealing to Melissa that led her to have interest for him. Melissa wanted to have some sort of relationship with Niko. “But how to start?,” Melissa thought. But if it’s meant to be, it will be.

That’s when I came into play. Niko and Melissa were friends on an online communication platform: Line. Niko used a picture of him and me on that scorching hot day. I was such a standout element in the picture that Melissa couldn't help but commented on a direct message on Line. And the rest was history!

You’re welcome, Niko and Melissa! Hahaha! So what am I? I am a piece of fabric that is wrapped and tied around the head worn by both men and women. My purposes serve as a decorative element, a symbol of worship and commitment; and after Niko and Melissa’s story, I’m considering of adding match maker into my resume.

Yup! You guessed it! I’m a turban!!! First tied around the head, now tying two souls lives as they journey on together.
