Love Tank

Ever heard the expression: I love you in my own way? That may seem true, but it’s not the most effective way to make our partner feel our love. What if we change our mentality and be more selfless, the way Nicholas shows love to Elizabeth and vice versa. Instead of loving in their own natural way, they both intentionally found out each other’s love languages and try to express love accordingly.

Nicholas and Elizabeth are two individuals who share different personalities. One is more introverted, and the other is more extroverted. As time went by, they manage to balance each other out and become a much more ideal couple. Not too extroverted, not too introverted. They’re just about right.

However, their love languages remain the same. Nicholas’s love language is words of affirmation. Elizabeth has thought a genius, creative way to make him feel her love. Instead of just saying how much she loves him and encouraging him verbally, Elizabeth would secretly hide love notes around his place or even in his bag or car, or anywhere. That way it’s like a scavenger hunt of love for Nicholas, but he would never feel burdened of finding all the love notes. Because he will never collect them all as the hunt will never stop because Elizabeth will always replenish the hidden stash. She would always want to make him feel loved.

Nicholas on the other hand would show his love through Elizabeth’s love language: acts of service. Elizabeth often procrastinates when it comes to cleaning up after her mess. Lovingly, Nicholas would clean up after her and encourage her to tidy up right away so the mess would not accumulate. Other than that, Nicholas often gives flowers to Elizabeth at random times. That is such a classic move that never fails to bring a smile on a woman’s face. What girl doesn't like flowers, right?

I trust every relationship must go through its own challenges, conflicts, and sometimes unexpected steep turns. Mastering each other’s love language will help lighten the load, because that way our love tanks will always remain full like Nicholas and Elizabeth’s. At first, it may seem unnatural and awkward to show love in other’s love language. However, practice makes perfect. It will become second nature before we know it. And when we love someone that deeply, we will do whatever to make his or her love tank full at all times.
