I used to read an article on the internet said that 98% of high school sweethearts will not make it into marriage. We were young, still in the middle of self discovery, just tasting the very beginning of “love,” and there are a lot of things we still wanted to chase, dreams or experiences in life. But love is still one of the most beautiful things that will ever happen when we feel it for the very first time at such a young age. It changes almost everything in our lives.

For a moment, I totally agree with that survey and I flashed back to what I went through, since I’ve known love when I was 16, and yes, it just happened so fast and didn’t take long.

But their story is kind of interesting. They are the 2% of the people, 2% of the high school sweethearts who can hang on and commit to each other and make it this far. And I feel so lucky that I can find this rare species hahaha. When I knew about this, I have to admit that part of me did not believe this, and I asked them whether they ever broke up or felt bored about the relationship that they have. I mean, you start this at such a young age, love still gives a magnificent effect to us, but how about commitment? Commitment is something that we learn along the process, and not just given. But how could they be mature enough to know what’s best? But they answered me with “No, never at all. Never crossed our minds!” and I just wowed.

We took their pre-wedding pictures in New Zealand. A country that represents their adventurous souls, and their peaceful minds. It is one of my favorite countries as well. We had a lot of beautiful memories there. I must say, there were days when the weather seemed not too friendly. Either it was too cold or too wet, but never did I see a worry in their eyes, even in the coldest weather, they can even smile and enjoy every little moment that they had. And to spend time with them was precious to us.
