“I Wanna Grow Old With You”

“I want to make you smile, whenever you’re sad, carry you around when your arthritis is bad. Cause all I want to do is grow old with you.” Ever heard of this lyric from the movie the Wedding Singer? It emphasizes how much Muri means to Johan; even with the lyrics literally happening in their lives. The moment they knew that they were meant for each other, this song gets stuck on repeat. 

Let’s rewind a bit though. How did this song end up being on their playlist to begin with? Johan and Muri were both originally from a town near Pontianak and yet despite the supposedly small proximity, they did not know each other. It took a mutual friend and the help of the friendly neighborhood Instagram to help them find each other. But that did not deter them from eventually meeting each other in person; at least not in Indonesia. They actually first met in Sydney! Muri was studying and working in Sydney and Johan convinced his family to take a vacation there so he could see Muri. Love at first sight is a total understatement for these two. Yet, like how fairy tales go, there’s always a moment of uncertainty for the heroes. Johan had to wait another year before Muri decided to come back to Jakarta for good. And within that one year Johan continuously kept in touch with Muri so she will come back quickly; he was eagerly waiting for the moment she would be back by his side. When the moment came and they became a couple, more good things followed. Not only did they realize that they had the same hobbies which are travelling and eating; they realized that the more they see each other, the safer they felt. And that’s when they decided; why not grow old with each other.

The thought of getting married during this uncertain time did give them the chills. But Johan knew that there is no reason for their bond to be held back by this pandemic. Because their love is equally contagious! I guess that the Kairos team was infected by their affection and love when they had their pre wedding pictures taken. A lot of laughter and funny moments as the couple posed for the camera. Both the couple and the Kairos team had fun throughout the day. The moments showed how relaxed and safe both Johan and Muri are with each other.
