I Don’t Know Why. I Just Do.
It’s funny how a single encounter can flip your world upside down and suddenly your life gets better. Two people could be roaming through the same corridors, buying iced coffee and kaya toast from the same kopitiam every single day and remain strangers if Father Time still thinks it is not yet the perfect timing. This is how Darren and Isabella’s story began.
Darren and Isabella spent most of their days in the same building, at the same company, going through the same coffee shop were oblivious of each other’s existence. They were strangers. That was life as they know it for one and a half years. But one fire drill was going to change it all.
The day started out with a typical quarterly fire drill that the company held. But Isabella and a group of friends could not bear the thought of having to climb the endless staircase at the building. So they said goodbye to the drill and went to a kopitiam instead. ‘Today is the day!,” Father Time decided. One of Isabella’s friends asked if he could add another coworker in the mix. The saying goes the more the merrier. Adding one more person wouldn't hurt anyone. It wasn't long until someone approached the table and said, “Hi, I’m Darren!” And the rest is history.
Their connection was real and it was fiery. They talked about every single topic on that day. The fire drill soon ended but Darren wasn't about to miss this once in a lifetime chance at love. He quickly pulled out his phone and asked for her number.
I’ve always thought that the relationship grows out of friendship. It’s about being comfortable with each other. When I asked Isabella what made her fall in love with Darren, her answer couldn't be sweeter. “Honestly, Darren is not the kind of guy I thought I would date, let alone be my husband. But our instant connection took me by surprise. We click. But I honestly don’t know why. I just do.”
In life sometimes we may think we know better. So we jot down a long list filled with our preferences. “I want somebody tall and muscular.” or “I want somebody with long hair and nice cheekbones.” But ultimately God knows best. And He doesn't give us what we want. He gives us who we need. That was why He blessed Darren and Isabella with each other.
