Both Showing Hearts
As an inquisitive individual, I spend countless moments wondering about
magical things such as how do two different souls know their partner is “the one”.
Some couples spend years convincing themselves and each other that they are
choosing the right person to spend the rest of their lives with. Some only need a
brief moment and have some sort of premonition of their future together. Both are
valid, both are equally mysterious, both are equally right. Herianto and Karin’s story
is the latter one of the two. Their story made me believe in the deep connection
between lovers.
“So Karin, how long have you two been dating?” Her replied shook me, I
wasn't ready, “It would be half a year on our wedding day.” Soon is an
understatement to how soon they made up their mind on together forever. Her
woman intuition was so on point that she realized that Herianto was “the one” on
their first moment together. “We could talk about any and everything. We must have
talked for hours and hours that the restaurant had to politely kick us out. That
moment I thought to myself, “I wish we were husband and wife.”” It felt so good. It
felt right. Like a match made in heaven by God Himself. Like her soul has found its
home.
She had also told me that the date was different. It was special. Not because
of where they were, or what they ate, or how they dressed. It was because they laid
it all on the table. John Legend said it best: they were “both showing hearts”. No
pretense. No façade. Just two souls trying to find each other’s “the one”. This method
has proven its success rate for a long time. Yet so many people struggle to trust it
and give it a shot.
People complicate the process and make up nonsense rules about dating that
often fail. Some may even alter their appearance, trying to show “their best”. Then
get disappointed when their new look doesn't win them “the one”. May I argue that
their best is simply laying everything on the table, their hearts, their insecurities,
their all. Let that initial moment of meeting be the risk that we’re willing to take.
Because it is worth it! Let Herianto and Karin’s story be a testimony that sincerity
beats the prettiest of make up we can ever put on.
