How should I tell a love story more magical than moon dust? A tale brighter than starlight, defeating strong questionable odds that tried to dim their shining fate.
Many love stories usually start with man and woman spending their teenage years separately. They then encounter each other in their first few years of college in their twenties. Mike and Steffie’s story is slightly different.
While they both pursued their bachelor’s degree overseas, their love stories started at the end of their high school years back at home, Indonesia. Mike attained his degree in Seattle, while Steffie attained hers in Melbourne then Shanghai. According to the narrow human comprehension, the Weighing the odds, their chance of meeting each other is next to none. But miracles do exist! Hence the story of Mike and Steffie.
It all began in a crowded high school reunion dinner. Those who have left to different schools in different countries returned for a fun night with old friends. Mike and Steffie were placed at opposite ends of a table. Initially, Mike was set up with a different girl, even though Steffi was still in his mind. Unable to hide his feelings any longer, the next day he immediately requested to follow Steffie on Instagram and they started talking to each other.
When you have an entire lifetime to catch up one, time seems to fly. Within a short period of time, they grew closer towards each other. They only need 15 days of flirting to officially become a couple.
They dated for over five years. Mike could not wait to make Steffie his bride. He saved a special date to propose to Steffie. Steffie went on a trip to Japan for her friend’s bachelorette party. On the fourth day of the trip, when Steffie returned to their hotel in Tokyo, she was surprised to find Mike on one knee with a ring in his hand. Still filled with surprise, mixed with overcoming joy, Steffie answered “Yes!”
The most romantic love stories share one thing in common: One must go against all odds to get there. The odds may be questionable, but all true love needs is a chance to show its will power to overcome the impossible.
